Before she leaves Adara passes all her Starblessed magic to Evern. He's doesn't understand at first, but it's not long before her magic begins to fuel his own. He assembles his inner circle and they head for the Fae Kingdom to get her back. Adara's father explains that Gavril is more powerful now because he has his mate locked in the dungeon. He feeds on her constantly, bringing her to edge of death then letting her heal. He knows because she's held in the cell next to his. Without her magic Adara's only value to Gavril is the pain he knows his brother feels. He tries to hide that her magic is gone from the people of the kingdom but in his anger, Gavril feeds from her and takes too much. The people assembled to witness her return immediately know something is off. When Evern crosses the forest to the Fea Kingdom he's met by a sprite who tells him, even with their combined magic he is not strong enough to break through the protective wall his brother has created. Evern must get to the wall and send Adara's magic back to her. That only She can defeet Gavril. In her escape Adara kills Queen Kaida, destroys the wall and returns to the Blood Kingdom. She is nursed back to health and tells them everything she managed to learn. There was no sign of Gavrils mate. They know Gavril will come for Adara again, but they did not expect that he would appear and disappear from the steps of the Blood Kingdom and no one would notice. That is until the body of Adaras mother is found broken and bloody. A life for a life. A mother for a mother. Evern calls for aid and King Drystan and his brothers arrive and set up a perimeter around the outside of the Blood Kingdom. But nobody was prepared for the power Gavril has gained by draining his mate. Using that magic Gavril's army appears between the Blood Kingdom and King Drystan's forces, cutting them off from each other. The battle begins. First of all I love this series! This book however has a ton of smut filler. Adara and Evern can not keep their hands to themselves. To the point that I skimmed over most of it to get back to the plot. I was nice to see another pair finally get together.
