Tim Jensen is left traumatized after watching as his father is taken by the Boogeyman. No one believes him, they say his father left the family but Tim knows different.

As he grows up he remains terrified of the dark.

After the death of his mother Tim goes back to his family home. His uncle has been doing repairs so the house is a general mess, but Tim insists on spending a few nights in the house.

The creature is waiting, following, Will Tim find a way to end his nightmare or will he fall to the Boogeyman?

The book is well written adaptation of the movie. I was hoping for a little more detail to fill in gaps around what happened to his mother and why his uncle stepped in to take care of him.
