A young girl, Oraya is found trapped in the ruins of her home by a group of vampires. Their king, Victor adopts the tiny human and raises her as his daughter. Raised in a world of claws and teeth, Victor teaches her to be a strong fighter. To master her fear and use it to her advantage.
When she comes of age, Oraya enters the Kejari. A tournament designed to challenge the contestants in every way possible. Oraya fights her way to the final trial of the tournament with the help of Raihn, another contestant, but there can be only one winner. Slowly she realizes the world is changing around them. The contestants are required to reside in the Moon Palace during the Kejari, only allowed to leave on nights there is no trial. Sometimes meeting her father, some nights hunting the vampires who haunt the human slums. One night while out with Raihn the Moon palace is attacked and everything changes for both Oraya and Raihn. I loved this book. The story is engaging, the enemies' to lovers story is a slow burn that explodes at the perfect time, but makes you feel for both MC's when you know one will have to kill the other to win the Kejari.
