​After the events of The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King, Mische decides it's time for her to travel, to continue seeing the world. Leaving her friends in the House of Night isn't easy but in her heart she know they will be safer of she goes. After all the Shadowborn will want vengeance for the death of their prince.

Standing before the Shadowborn king it looks like Mische will meet her death, until the bastard son of the king steps up. He explains that he needs her and the king allows Asar to take her. 

The mission is to follow the Descent down to the Underworld to resurrect the god of death and returning him to his wife Nyaxia. 

I thought I knew what to expect but man was wrong with this one. The twists and turns that enveitable bring Mische and Asar together had me turning page after page till the wee hours of the morning. 

I don't like giving away endings, but I will say this book sets up the next beautifully and I can't wait to read it.
